Photograph of a Zulu kraal, meaning cattle enclosure, in the village of New Guelderland. There are several small huts with domed straw roofs arranged in a group with a low hedge surrounding them. The kraal is surrounded by open moorland. This photograph was taken during the Anglo-Zulu War (1879), which ended the independence of the Zulu Kingdom and brought it under British control.
