Photograph of the Leander and other ships at the entrance of Balaklava Harbour. There are a number of tall ships grouped together in the water to the left. To the right is the Genoese Castle on the top of a steep hill. After an eleven month siege the city of Sevastopol was captured by the allied British, French and Turkish forces on 8th September 1855, effectively ending the Crimean War.
