Photograph of Kamiesh, showing the burial ground. To the left is the harbour, with ships packed tightly together in a small enclave. Buildings line the edges of the harbour, and more can be seen on the open land behind. There is a tomb in the shape of a pyramid in the foreground to the right. The port of Kamiesh was used as a base by the French during the Crimean War. Supplies arrived by ship into the small harbour and were transported to troops engaged in the Siege of Sevastopol.
