Photograph of the huts of the sutlers at Kadikoi. In the foreground there is a camp of wooden huts and tents, with a few men and horses moving around. Small groups of tents and huts can be seen on the hillside behind and there are hills in the distance. Sutlers were civilian merchants who travelled alongside armies selling provisions. The Battle of Balaklava was fought in the countryside around the small village of Kadikoi, just north of Balaklava.
