Photograph of the battery of the Victoria Ravine before the Careenage. An earth wall reinforced with sandbags extends across the breadth of the scene. Cannons are spaced at intervals and there are piles of ammunition behind. Hills can be seen in the distance. The Victoria Ravine, also known as the Worontzoff Ravine, marked the line between the British and French forces during the Siege of Sevastopol.
