Photograph of a military band playing in a camp. The band stand in a group playing a variety of instruments. Other soldiers stand around them, with those standing in front of the band facing the camera. All are wearing military uniform, with the band wearing lighter coloured jackets. There are tents and wooden huts behind them. The standard of British military bands improved dramatically around the time of the Crimean War, with more emphasis placed on standardisation across the regiments.
