Photograph of the cemetery on Cathcart's Hill, showing soldiers on the lookout. In the foreground there are a number of graves, each with a small headstone. Behind the cemetery a group of soldiers are gathered by a rocky ridge, some mounted on horses. A large camp can be seen in the valley behind. Cathcart's Hill, named after the grave of General Cathcart, was the main cemetery for British soldiers killed during the Crimean War. It was also used as an observation point as from it commanders could view the progress of the Siege of Sevastopol.
