Photograph of General Yea (1808-55) and Lieutenant Hobson (d.1855) standing beside a horse. General Yea stands to the left by the horse's head, turning to the right with his left hand resting on the saddle. Lieutenant Hobson, standing to the right, holds out a letter to him with his right hand and holds a sword in his left. Both are wearing military uniform and there is a wooden hut behind them. This photograph, printed by Jabez Hughes in 1883, is a carbon print pasted over the original photograph.
General Yea commanded the Royal Fusiliers during the Crimean War. Both men died during the attack on the Redan, 18 June 1855.Provenance
