Photograph of Brigadier-General Lockyer (1797-1860) with two of his staff officers, Lieutenant-Colonel Legh (1821-1859) and Major Rooke. Brigadier-General Lockyer is sitting on a folding chair at the centre of the group holding a glove and sword in his left hand. Major Rooke sits beside him to the right and Lieutenant-Colonel Legh stands on the step to the left with his right hand resting on a wall. All are wearing military uniform and carry swords. There is an open doorway behind them. This photograph, printed by Jabez Hughes in 1883, is a carbon print pasted over the original photograph.
General Lockyer served during the Crimean War and later became the Governor of British Ceylon (now Sri Lanka).Provenance
