He is wearing military uniform and there is a bicorn hat with a feather plume on the table behind him to the left. This photograph, printed by Jabez Hughes in 1883, is a carbon print pasted over the original photograph.
Major General Sir William Eyre served in the Crimean War and was injured during the Siege of Sevastopol.Provenance
