-
Library table with a circular leather-lined top above four drawers and four faux bookshelves. On a short circular pedestal with four splayed feet with applied gilt metal decoration.
Provenance
Marked as having been part of the furniture at the Royal Pavilion, Brighton before being removed to Buckingham Palace under Queen Victoria's reign.
Gillow & Co. were founded in Lancaster in 1730. In 1897 they merged with a Liverpool firm and were then known as Waring & Gillow. This piece has marks of both Gillow & Co. and Waring & Gillow suggesting that the company were involved in its alteration or repair after the table was initially supplied. -
