A 8.5 x 6.5 inch (whole plate) negative of the Picture Gallery, now known as the Queen's Drawing Room, at Windsor Castle in 1912. Interior view looking into the room from the window near the King's Closet, showing various items of furniture and many paintings hung on the wall.
Paintings include Canaletto's "The Grand Canal with Santa Maria della Salute looking East towards the Bacino" (RCIN 404397), Salviati's "The Virgin and Child with an Angel" (RCIN 405778), van Cleve's "Adoration of the Shepherds" (RCIN 406043), Franciabigio's "Portrait of Jacopo Cennini" (RCIN 405766), "The Holy Family with Saint Catherine" (RCIN 402820) and Dughet's "Landscape with Figures Beside a Waterfall" (RCIN 405320).
A large gilt-bronze chandelier hangs from the ceiling (RCIN 35334). There is a button back giltwood sofa facing the fireplace. A Boulle-style oak writing desk sits behind the sofa (RCIN 35830). Against the long wall, items include a lacquer and gilt metal commode (RCIN 39208), a pair of large Chinese vases, a Boulle secretaire by Levasseur (RCIN 29945), and a lacquer and gilt metal chest of drawers (RCIN 39206). The wallhangings have a repeating damask pattern. The wooden floor is exposed with three rugs. -
