A 8.5 x 6.5 inch (whole plate) negative of the Van Dyck Room, now called the Queen's Gallery or Ballroom at Windsor Castle in 1904. Interior view looking down the room towards the door for the Audience Chamber, showing the numerous paintings by Van Dyck hung on the wall. These include "The Five Eldest Children of Charles" (RCIN 404405), "Charles I" (RCIN 404420), "Charles I and Henrietta Maria with their children" (RCIN 405353), "Beatrice de Cusance" (RCIN 404404), "Thomas Killigrew and William, Lord Crofts" (RCIN 407426) and "Venetia Stanley" (RCIN 406103).
On the left is a carved marble chimney piece (RCIN 79830) with gilt bronze and porcelain candelabra on the mantle. A lacquer breakfront cabinet (RCIN 35282) and a Boulle pedestal clock (RCIN 30011) are placed against the walls underneath the paintings. Various upholstered chairs are arranged around the room. Three large cut glass chandeliers hang from the ceiling (RCIN 35306). On the right between the window bays, there are two silver tables (RCIN 35299 and 35301) and a gilded console table (RCIN 33472) with mirrors above. Silk wall hangings with repeating damask pattern. Wooden floor covered with a large Persian carpet. -
