An 8.5 x 6.5 inch (whole plate) negative of the Rubens Room, now known as the King's Drawing Room, at Windsor Castle in 1912. Interior view looking into the centre of the room, showing various items of furniture and paintings hung on the wall. Centre of the room has multiple upholstered armchairs with a Boulle writing table (RCIN 35830) placed against the back of a button back sofa.
On the right there are three large paintings hung on the wall: "Philip II, King of Spain" (RCIN 404392), Rubens' "The Holy Family with Saint Francis" (RCIN 407674) and "St Martin Dividing his Cloak" by van Dyck (RCIN 405878). Below the paintings there is a white marble chimney piece (RCIN 79823) and a pair of giltwood sofas (RCIN 31310). A Vulliamy clock (RCIN 30237) sits on the mantel with a pair of French gilt bronze candelabra (RCIN 35311).
Against the far wall is an ebonised cabinet (RCIN 20579) and a large oak veneered ebony writing desk (RCIN 20593). Both topped with candelabra and ceramics. A large gilt bronze chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Silk wall hangings with repeating damask pattern. Large Persian carpet (RCIN 35823) covers most of the wooden floor. -
