A whole-plate glass negative of Room 227, which was the Boudoir of Princess Victoria of Wales (1868-1935), and was formerly the Governess's Room. Here is shown a fireplace with overmantel mirror, with a pair of electric candelabra in the form of putti holding branches, on the mantelpiece, and a pair of Tournai ice pails and a cut-glass clock (RCIN 30047). In the corner there is a corner cupboard also holding various Tournai bowls and dishes. Above the panelling is a row of plates, on a moulded shelf, and small pictures. The wallpaper is a repeating floral garland on stripy background design. Matching print is 2936772. The candelabra are RCIN 21693.1 & 2. The Broth basin, top shelf in the cabinet is Tournai 58158 a&b.The large bowl on the corner cupboard is Tournai RCIN 36948.1-6. and the fruit dishes are Tournai RCIN 33367.1-37.The fireplace and overmantel mirror are not on the CMS, but the painting in the top part of the mirror is RCIN 452397 - "Evening" by Varley. DM 5612. RL 14752. The wine coolers are Tournai 58438.1-9. (assumed to be the largest size) The plates facing, over panelling, are (L) Tournai RCIN 36949.129 and (R) Tournai RCIN 59324.14. (Centre) Sevres 58642.2. The table is possibly RCIN 7718 but otherwise is not on the CMS. And the corner cabinet is not on the CMS.
