A 7 x 9 inch glass plate negative of a Marsh and Tatham ebony and ivory bookcase, one of four made for the Long or Grand Corridor, and later intended for the Royal Library (RCIN 39475). Probably photographed in the Grand Corridor, Windsor Castle. The bookcase is glazed and has many porcelain pieces, including Sevres portrait plates (RCIN 58115.1-12).
Top shelf: a Chelsea tureen and cover, one of four (RCIN 57012.1-4 a&b), part of the Mecklenberg Service; the bottle cooler is in the style of Sevres (RCIN 59273.1&2); Sevres portrait plates are (left) Mlle de Montpensier (RCIN 58112.1) and (right) Madame de Sevigne (RCIN 58112.10).
Second shelf: a Minton potpourri vase in the shape of a sailing boat (RCIN 58681); two Sevres style sugar boats with integral saucers and covers (RCIN 58154.1&2 a&b); two oval Sevres style fruit dishes (RCIN 35547.1&2); two Minton vases (copies) with elephant's heads (RCIN 54011.1&2); Sevres portrait plate on th left of Madame de la Valliere (RCIN 58115.6).
Base shelf: a large Derby porcelain bowl and cover (RCIN 58746 a&b) with its three fan-shape dishes (RCIN 58747.1-3 a&b); two Tournai butter dishes with covers (RCIN 33674.1-5 a&b); a Tournai broth basin and cover (RCIN 33368.1-3 a&b); two Sevres portrait plates - Mlle. Scarren (RCIN 58115.8) and another, not clearly seen.
This was possibly photographed in preparation for the Windsor Castle Illustrated Manuscript, volumes 1 and 2.Provenance
