Reproduction of an original photograph of Alexander I, King of the Hellenes. He is turned partly to the right and is wearing military uniform including a sash and insignia. The photograph is signed and dated. Alexander I became King of the Hellenes in 1917, following the deposition of his father Constantine I. He died in 1920 from septicaemia caused by a monkey bite. After his death his father was reinstated as King.
