-
Photograph of Loch Katrine, Scotland, with a rowing boat in the right foreground containing a man with his back to the viewer. A fern covered bank is on the right hand side and tree covered hills are in the background.
Other versions of this photograph have been titled 'looking towards Roderick Dhu's Watchtower'. Roderick Dhu was one of the three main protagonists in Sir Walter Scott's poem The Lady of the Lake who tried to win the affections of Ellen Douglas. Scott immortalised Loch Katrine and the Trossachs in the Scottish Highlands by setting the poem in the area.Provenance
