Work book containing 302 photographs of HMY Britannia during 1969 with HM Queen Elizabeth II (b. 1926); HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh (1921-2021); HRH Princess Anne (b. 1950); HRH Prince Charles (b. 1948); Admiral of the Fleet, Louis Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma (1900-79); Rear Admiral Patrick Morgan (active 1965–70); HRH Prince Andrew (b. 1960); and HRH Prince Edward (b. 1964). Work book also contains photographs which include King Olav V of Norway (1903-91), Admiral of the Fleet (active 1988); Crown King Harald V of Norway (b. 1937) when Prince Harald, Crown Prince of Norway, and Sonja Haraldsen (b. 1937), later Queen Sonja of Norway. Photographs begin with a fleet of submarines coming up to the surface of the sea, with groups of the crew situated at the fin of the submarines; two other ships HMS Spiraea and Minesweeper HMS Bildeston; there are photographs of HMS Eagle aircraft carrier with a number of helicopters and aircrafts in the sky above; the crew of HMS Hampshire cheering ship; the crew of one of the submarines cheering ship; a helicopter on the aircraft deck of HMS Blake; HMS Tenby cheering ship; HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh on the deck of Britannia watching the cheering ships pass by; HMS Glamorgan also passes HMY Britannia and cheers ship; HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Lord Mountbatten and HRH Princess Anne on the deck; HRH Prince Charles with Rear Admiral Morgan, wearing a lifejacket, standing on the deck in front of the ship’s bell; and another photograph of HMS Blake. HM The Queen and HRH Princess Anne travel on the Royal Barge with Rear Admiral Morgan; the barge photographed moving away from the yacht and a number of motorboats travelling in the same direction; group photographs of the Royal party with a group of Admirals, Vice-Admirals and Rear Admirals on the deck of Britannia; HRH Prince Charles embarking onto Britannia; HMS Plymouth and a few tug boats photographed at sea; an unidentified gentleman shaking hands with a small group of Lieutenants and Lieutenant-Commanders; photographs of the Land Rover on board Britannia; an unknown Mayor and Mayoress boarding Britannia and being escorted by Rear Admiral Morgan; HRH Prince Andrew boarding Britannia and shaking hands with Rear Admiral Morgan; photograph of THV Patricia; photographs of HMS Malcolm, escort ship; HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh embarking Britannia; HRH Prince Andrew travelling on the Royal Barge with HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and HRH Prince Edward watching over the side from Britannia; Royal Yacht Band on the deck with HRH Prince Edward; and HM The Queen with HRH Prince Edward and HRH Princess Anne on the deck. Photographs continue with HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh being greeted in the Shetlands on the 6th August, including men dressed as Vikings wearing helmets with wings, carrying axes and shields; HM The Queen is escorted by a gentleman in highland dress and stands on the saluting platform; HM The Queen talks to a group of girl guides; HRH Prince Andrew and HRH Prince Edward are photographed on the jetty wearing lifejackets and carrying binoculars; HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh being escorted by a Commander and a Mayor onto the jetty and photographs show HMS Malcolm and other boats in the harbour. Photographs continue with HMY Britannia going into dry dock, secure in 'B' Lock and then cold move to 5B3; some of the Royal Yachtsmen gathering on the deck, there is a Lieutenant-Commander being transported in a large metal bucket from the yacht to the jetty by a large crane for his leaving. The photographs continue with the mixing of the Christmas pudding on board Britannia; Admiral of the Fleet, Sir Caspar John (1903-84) on board Britannia with Rear Admiral Morgan; the Royal Yachtsmen visiting the Children’s Ward at Portsmouth Royal Hospital; a model of the new Officers Transport Boat, with measurements; a model of the cutter yacht given to a member of the Royal Yacht leaving and is photographed shaking hands with his crew before embarking the yacht by sliding down the brow on a tray; photographs of the Rolls Royce being hoisted onto the yacht; Rear Admiral Morgan greeting guests onto Britannia; a New Zealand Commodore meeting with members of the Royal Yacht crew; presentation of a model of a yacht steering wheel to a member of the Royal Yachtsmen crew by a Lieutenant; a Commander and a Vice-Admiral speaking on the deck of Britannia; other unidentified gentlemen being greeted onto Britannia by Rear Admiral Morgan, some gentlemen are in high ranking military uniforms. The photographs continue with Britannia coming into Portsmouth harbour, being led by two tug boats, possibly moving docks for re-fit; scenic views provided of an unknown harbour and the RM Band playing through the streets; images of a football; final photographs show a game of tug-o-war being played on the deck of Britannia by the crew, a game of tennis and refueling at sea. The work book includes inscriptions related to the photographs and identification of the ships and yachts, including date, catalogue number given to the photographs.
