Work book containing 298 photographs of HMY Britannia travelling with Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother (1900-2002) on the West Country Tour during 1967; HM Queen Elizabeth II (b. 1926) and HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh (1921-2021) visiting Canada. The photographs begin with families waiting on the South Railway jetty at Portsmouth; Mrs Morgan and Mrs Bowden leaving the yacht; the Queen Mother boarding Britannia and meeting with Rear Admiral Morgan (active 1965-70) on the deck; photographs of the Royal Brow at South Railway jetty; the Queen Mother stepping ashore at Penzance harbour; meeting with the Mayoress of Penzance; the Royal Barge at speed and getting under way for St. Michaels Mount; presentations at Mayoral Ball, Penzance, showing groups of people with plaques and paintings of HMY Britannia; HM Yacht Band playing on arrival at Falmouth; Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall leaving Britannia; the Royal Barge arriving at Falmouth jetty; the Queen Mother meets the Lord Mayor and leaves for the Town Hall and signs the visitor book; the Queen Mother and Lord Lieutenant admire ships plaques on the wall at Falmouth Town Hall and then the Queen Mother leaves the Town Hall and is photographed in Falmouth. HMY Britannia is photographed arriving at Montreal; a pipe band playing for HMY at Expo 67; Britannia entering Lambert Lock and berthing at Cornwall; HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh arriving on the jetty at Cornwall and leaves to visit Expo 67 by car; HM The Queen inspects the Guard of Honour; HMY steams past Expo site; passage to Kingston ‘100 Islands’; pleasure craft ‘escort’ yacht on passage to Kingston; HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh photographed on the veranda deck during the passage to Kingston; Royal Yachtsmen visit Louisburg reconstruction at Cape Breton Island; Rear Admiral Morgan unveils plaque on the jetty at Cornwall and the Mayor of Cornwall presents HMY with ‘a cheese’; photographs of brows at Stoney, Cape Breton Island and St. John, New Brunswick; a view of Chateau Frontenac, Quebec; yachtsmen fishing on the Forecastle; Britannia going alongside at St. John in heavy mist. The Queen Mother joins Britannia at St. John, New Brunswick where she is greeted by Rear Admiral Morgan and Officers of Britannia; photographs then show the Queen Mother and Rear Admiral Morgan returning on board Britannia at Halifax, Canada, where the Queen Mother is photographed with the Officer of the Guard of Honour at Halifax and inspecting the Guard of Honour; the Queen Mother leaves the jetty at Halifax in an open-top car. Photographs show Commander Beeson and Commanding Officer of an unnamed escort ship on the deck; ships company brow at Halifax and Canso Lock; the Queen Mother goes ashore at Canso Lock and meets local guides; the Queen Mother with Commander Beeson at Arisaig Nova Scotia; the Royal Brow at Sydney and the Queen Mother going ashore and returning on board at Sydney. The work book includes inscriptions related to the photographs and identification of the ships and yachts, including date, catalogue number given to the photographs and some naval terminology.
