She holds a cup and saucer in her left hand whilst her right hand is raised to her right cheek. Two unidentified ladies sit at a small table next to the Duchess of Manchester. The two ladies face one another. The lady on the left of the group holds a small teapot in her right hat and appears to be in the act of pouring tea into a cup. The second lady is seated with her right hand resting on a cup and saucer placed on the table. On the left of the photograph there is a window with flowers placed on the floor beneath it. The Duchess of Manchester was the Mistress of the Robes to Queen Victoria between 1858 and 1859.
