Photograph of three ladies drinking tea. Louise, Duchess of Manchester (1832-1911) is seated on the right of the photograph, facing three-quarters left. She holds a cup and saucer in her left hand whilst her right hand is raised to her right cheek. Two unidentified ladies sit at a small table next to the Duchess of Manchester. The two ladies face one another. The lady on the left of the group holds a small teapot in her right hat and appears to be in the act of pouring tea into a cup. The second lady is seated with her right hand resting on a cup and saucer placed on the table. On the left of the photograph there is a window with flowers placed on the floor beneath it. The Duchess of Manchester was the Mistress of the Robes to Queen Victoria between 1858 and 1859.
Provenance
From an album belonging to Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge. The album was given to HM Queen Elizabeth II by the Duchess of Beaufort, and placed in the Photograph Collection on June 7th 1976.
