Photograph of the Duke of York and the Duchess of York with their daughters Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret at Y Bwthyn Bach, Windsor. The Duke of York is kneeling behind a low brick wall, holding a corgi on the wall. Princess Margaret is seated on the wall holding a corgi on her lap. The Duchess of York is inside a playhouse located in the background of the photograph. She watches her family through the window. Princess Elizabeth stands outside the playhouse. Two other dogs, Choo-Choo and Mimsy, are also in the photograph.
Y Bwthyn Bach, meaning little Welsh house, was a favourite place for the young Princesses to play while at Windsor. The child-size house was a gift to Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret from the people of Wales and came complete with miniature furniture, crockery and other household items.Provenance
