Photograph of the Honourable Violet Vivian and an unidentified small child, sitting on the ground in the garden of Cestyll, in Anglesey, North Wales.
The Honourable Violet Mary Vivian, daughter of Hussey Crespigny Vivian, 3rd Baron Vivian of Glynn and of Truro, was Maid of Honour to Queen Alexandra. She created a much-admired garden at Cestyll, near Camaes, Anglesey, North Wales. She was awarded the MBE in 1945 and died unmarried on 5 June 1962. Interestingly, the Hon. Vivian had a twin sister, Dorothy Maud Vivian (1879-1939), who also served as a Maid of Honour first to Queen Victoria from 1899 and then to Queen Alexandra until 1905, when she married the 1st Earl Haig. -
