Photograph taken on Empire Day in Hyde Park with King George V and members of the royal family, standing up and listening to the 10,000 choristers and military bands playing the National Anthem. Empire Day was an event celebrated on 24th May, Queen Victoria's birthday. After 1958 it was renamed Commonwealth Day and moved to the second Monday of March. Newspaper reports estimated 200,000 people attended this event, the highest number since it began in 1902. One of six photographs on album page (album: RCIN 2303829).
