Photograph of King George V and Queen Mary walking past a huge crowd of schoolchildren singing hymns; they are standing on steps or a stand. They are followed by the Home Secretary Edward Shortt (1862-1935) and his wife or possibly the Countess Fortescue, Woman of the Bedchamber to Queen Mary. This took place during a visit to Birmingham on 21 May 1919 including a visit to the Children's Hospital at Five Ways and Cadbury's in Bourneville, as well as a parade by the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. One of eight photographs on album page (album RCIN 2303829). This was published in the Sphere newspaper on 31 May 1919.
