Photograph of King George V (1865-1936) and Queen Mary (1867-1953) at a railway station in Paris, meeting President Raymond Poincare (1860-1934) and another man (not identified). The King is in full-dress uniform of the Admiral of the Fleet. Queen Mary wore an embroidered gown of pale blue silk crêpe, accessorised with a diamond brooch at her throat, a short pearl necklace, together with a posy inserted in at her waist, and wearing a hat piled up with bluish white ostrich plumes. The railway station may be Gare du Nord. The state visit to France took place between 21st and 24th April 1914, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Entente Cordiale between Britain and France.
