Photograph of Lyme Park in Cheshire, the south front viewed from beyond the lake. Queen Mary visited it on 11th December 1913. The south front and courtyard was designed by Giacomi Leoni (1686-1746) in the Palladian-Baroque style in the early 18th century. It would have been an interesting experience to see how it compared with the newly refaced east front of Buckingham Palace, completed in November 1913 which was based on the Leoni design for this house. One of 7 photographs on album page (album 2303705).
Provenance
From an album of photographs acquired and arranged by Queen Mary, between June 1913 and July 1916
