Photograph of the Victoria Memorial in front of the nearly completed façade of the east front of Buckingham Palace, with scaffolding or cranes behind. The old façade was crumbling and blackened by the poor London air. When the Victoria Memorial was being planned it was decided that the palace should also be refaced and a classical façade in Portland stone was designed by Sir Aston Webb. It was completed on 1st November 1913. One of 8 photographs on album page (album: 2303705).
