Photograph of a large group of women sitting on the ground, at the top of steps leading to an important building with thick decorated columns on either sides; there are cloth hangings above.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, later King George V and Queen Mary, visited Ragoon, now Yangon, Myanmar (modern-day Burma) between 13-15th January 1906. Burma was under British control, after the 2nd Anglo-Burmese War in 1852, until the Japanese invasion in 1942 and finally gained its independence in 1948.Provenance
