A photograph of two camels and their riders, pulling a carriage filled with luggage, travelling through a camp, possibly at Bikaner. Camels were much used in Bikaner which has a very hot-dry climate and desert-landscape. The Maharaja of Bikaner raised the Bikaner Camel Corps in about 1889 to assist the British at the end of the 19th century and in WW1, as well as WW2. The Prince and Princess of Wales (later King George V and Queen Mary) stayed in Bikaner, India, from 24 to 27 November 1905.
