Photograph of Dinorwig Quarry near Llanberis in North Wales. Dinorwig, also known as Dinorwic was the second largest slate quarry in the world, after Penrhyn, only ceasing production in 1969. The Prince and Princess of Wales, later King George V nd Queen Mary, visited the quarries in May, as part of the visit to North Wales for the Prince of Wales's appointment as Chancellor of the University of Wales at Caernarfon.
