A photograph of the exterior of The Rosenau in Coburg, including garden and a water fountain in the foreground of the photograph. The Duke and Duchess of York, later King George V and Queen Mary were in Coburg in April 1896, for a family wedding.Rosenau was the birthplace and childhood of Prince Albert and his second son Prince Alfred became Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha on the death of his uncle. He died at Rosenau in 1900 and his widow, the Russian-born Grand Duchess Marie Alexandrovna lived here until 1920.
