Circular gold box covered with pink guilloché enamel decorated with radiating moiré waves, the lid is gold mounted with an off-centre rose diamond Romanov eagle; the hinged gold rim has a chased foliate mount and rose diamond thumbpiece. Feodor Afanassiev, the workmaster who produced this box which bears the imperial eagle, specialised in making small objects in gold and enamel.
