Photograph of a double portrait of Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge (1833-97) and Lady Katherine Coke (d. 1920), later a Woman of the Bedchamber to Queen Mary. They are facing each other. Lady Katherine Coke is standing on the left with both hands resting on the right shoulder of Princess Mary Adelaide. Princess Mary Adelaide is standing on the right with her right arm around the back of Lady Katherine Coke and her left hand placed on Lady Katherine Coke's right arm. A blindstamp with the name of the photographer appears in the lower left hand corner of the photograph. The photograph is adhered to a page in an album which has been decorated with ivy painted around the photograph. There are two red monograms on either side of the photograph; on the right a monogram created using the letters M and A, whilst on the left there is a monogram with the letters C and C.
Provenance
From an album belonging to Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge. The album was given to HM Queen Elizabeth II by the Duchess of Beaufort, and placed in the Photograph Collection on June 7th 1976.
