Photograph of Frederick William, Hereditary Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1819-1904) and his son Prince Adolphus (1848-1914), later Adolphus Frederick V. The Grand Duke stands facing three-quarters right. He holds a cane in his right hand whilst his left arm is draped over the left shoulder of Prince Adolphus. The Grand Duke wears a top hat with a bow tie and a double-breasted waistcoat. Prince Adolphus stands on the right of the photograph, facing three-quarters right. He holds a top hat in his left hand. The photograph is adhered to the first page in a photograph album. The page has been decorated and the photograph has been drawn around, however unlike the other drawings on that page of the album the drawing has been done in pencil only and not ink.
Provenance
From an album belonging to Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge. The album was given to HM Queen Elizabeth II by the Duchess of Beaufort, and placed in the Photograph Collection on June 7th 1976.
