  • A watercolour of a distant view of an island with a tree in the right foreground. Signed and dated, lower left. In 2012, members of the Royal Academy presented Queen Elizabeth II with a portfolio of 105 works on paper to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee. This followed the presentation of similar portfolios by the Royal Academicians in the Queen's Coronation and Silver Jubilee years, 1953 and 1977.

The painter Terry Setch was elected to the Royal Academy in 2009. He lives and works in Penarth, Wales, responding to the natural landscape around him in his work, especially the post-industrial coastline around Cardiff. He has described himself as a 'political artist'. In particular he has drawn attention to plastic pollution on beaches, incorporating found detritus into his large scale paintings. This small drawing shows Steep Holm, an island in the Bristol Channel. The entire sheet is coated in wax, giving the work a textured surface that draws attention to its own making.
