Bust-length portrait photograph of King George V, facing three-quarters to the left, wearing military uniform, including medals and insignia, such as the Order of the Garter Star and ribbon, the Star of the Order of the Bath, the Star of Malta, Royal Victorian Chain, and Royal Family Orders. The mount is signed by the king: 'George R.I. / Balmoral Aug 22nd 1913.'
This photograph was used as model for a three-quarter portrait of the King employed in the production of the first postage stamps bearing his image. These were firstly issued following his Coronation in 1911.Provenance
