Photograph album bound in red leather with gold tooling to the covers and spine. The album contains albumen photographs of Indian Prince's and rulers taken by Bourne and Shepherd and other photographers.
The album was presented to Queen Victoria by Dr John Tyler, the Superintendent of the Agra Jail. Tyler had been tasked with selecting a group of prisoners from the Agra Jail to come to Britain to be 'displayed' during the Colonial and Indian Exhibition of 1886. Tyler accompanied the men to London, and during their stay, he took them to Windsor to meet Queen Victoria. (See S. Mathur, 'India by Design', University of California Press, 2007).Provenance
