Photograph of a wooden platform on which is suspended a pulley with ropes attached, around which are gathered individuals, including Prince Albert Edward of Wales, later King Edward VII and a man with his back to the camera wearing clerical robes. In the foreground, large crowds of spectators surround the outside of the tent. This is a closer view inside the tent as featured in the previous photograph (RCIN 2106770).
The photograph may have been taken during the laying of the foundation stone for the new dining room by Prince Albert Edward of Wales, at the Merchant Orphan Asylum at Snaresbrook on the 24th June 1866. -
