Photographic group portrait comprising 7 subjects arranged around a bench, possibly taken at Mar Lodge in Aberdeenshire. Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (1841-1910), later King Edward VII stands second from the right and Alexandra, Princess of Wales (1844-1925) is seated on the Prince's right facing the viewer. Louis IV Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine (1837-92) stands facing the viewer on the left.

The photograph was probably taken between the 17th and the 30th September during the visit of the Hessians to Balmoral.
