Photograph of the garden of the Cottage Palace at Peterhof. There is a path in the foreground and a lawn and trees behind. To the right there is a winged statue of an angel. The Cottage Palace and the surrounding gardens were built during the reign of Tsar Nicholas I as a summer retreat for his wife Alexandra Fedorovna. The palace was intended to provide a reprieve from formal court life and was modelled on an English estate.
