Photograph of the corridor of the St Alexander Hall in the Grand Kremlin Palace. The corridor has a decorative ceiling and windows on the left side. Small tables are spaced at intervals along both sides of the corridor and there are a number of chandeliers. There is an open door at the end of the corridor. The Kremlin is a fortified complex of palaces and cathedrals in Moscow. The Grand Kremlin Palace is the largest building in the Kremlin and was built between 1837 and 1849. It has five reception rooms named after the Orders of the Russian Empire.
Provenance
Probably presented to the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII, and the Princess of Wales, later Queen Alexandra, following their visit to Russia for the wedding celebrations of Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh and Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna in 1874
