The Queen's Audience Room, Buckingham Palace 1873
Gelatin silver print | 17.0 x 21.1 cm (image) | RCIN 2101805
-
Photograph of the Queen's Audience Room, with striped carpet. Within the room is a circular table with table cloth with a chevron border design, a settee, two gilt chairs, a footstool, an ornate firescreen with a picture or tapestry of a peacock with flowers. In the background there are two over-sized jars on stands (one of which appears to have a small figurine in a niche). Part of the fireplace is to right.
This photograph appears to have been inserted into the album at a later date, and is stylistically and compositionally different to the other photographs; it also does not have the name of Hills & Saunders below it. There is a hand-coloured version of this photograph in one of the Souvenir Albums, RCIN 2937246. There is another photograph, very similar to this, but taken further to the left of this view. -
