The Queen's Bedroom, Buckingham Palace 1873
-
Photograph of Queen Victoria's Bedroom, looking towards doors, from the bed (bottom left corner). The ceiling has a complicated moulded design of rosettes and garlands and lozenges The walls have striped floral wall hangings and a number of portraits. The carpet is floral. There are armchairs covered in chintz. There are two matching sets of cabinets with marble busts and objects. In the corner there is a stand for a card table or clothes press.
On either side of the fireplace are a number of pictures, two of which is probably a pair of paintings on porcelain, copied from photographs by Leonida Caldesi of Prince Arthur in 1857, Queen's Victoria's favourite son (RCINs 407306 and 407309). These are now at Frogmore. -
