Photograph of the Queen's Closet or the Queen's State Audience Room, Buckingham Palace, now known as the Royal Closet. This has a finely carved and decorated ceiling from which hangs a tiered cut-glass chandelier, over a circular table with chairs. There is a large overmantel rectangular mirror over a fine mantelpiece that originally came from Carlton House, supported by two female fauns. The paintings on the walls are a collection of relatively small paintings, which may be part of Prince Albert's early Italian art collection. There are two cabinets at the end wall on either sides of the double doors. The left one is by Baumgartner (RCIN 2675) on the original stand, and the other cabinet is of Florentine design with pietra-dura, also on a stand (RCIN 11884), acquired by George III. A third cabinet can be seen from the side, on the right wall (possibly RCIN 2439) and one of a set of bergeres or chairs with lion's heads as arm supports (RCIN 2411).
