Photograph of the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace with the original Nash circular roof-lights and Blore's central square roof lights. The walls are hung with many landscape paintings, as arranged by Prince Albert and Queen Victoria, intersected by marble fireplaces and white scagliola doorcases with flanking caryatid figures (since replaced in 1914/5); and long settees placed underneath. There is a row of chandeliers (four can be seen). In 1851 the walls were painted in lilac and the ceiling picked out in terracotta and blue, under Prince Albert's direction (as can be seen in a watercolour by Louis Haghe about 1853, RCIN 919917). The entire glazed ceiling was replaced in 1915.
