The State Bed is French, in the 'Polanise' style, attributed to the furniture designer Jacob (RCIN 29220), with a sofa in front. A giltwood over-mantel mirror is mounted above the fireplace, which also has a mantel clock (RCIN 30261). A large chandelier (RCIN 31209) hangs from the Verrio ceiling, the date 1660 is visible on the boss. To the right of the bed is a Canaletto painting of S Giorgio Maggiore (RCIN 400559); a Dobson portrait of James II when Duke of York (RCIN 406905) and a landscape painting. Opposite, to left of the mirror is a Zuccarelli painting of Jacob watering Laban's Flock (RCIN 406008). Below this is a marquetry bombé commode (RCIN 39224), and beside the bed is a cabinet (RCIN 90611). The large circular table is not yet identified. The carpet is Axminister (RCIN 53231).
