Glass plate negative of a fresco by Nicola Consoni (1814–84) depicting a group of putti. One putto is dressed as a Roman soldier. He is shown in the act of lifting himself from the ground, raising himself before two putti. A group of putti behind him hold his spear, shield and sword. The fresco is located in the Promenade (East) Gallery, Buckingham Palace.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2101940.Provenance
