Glass plate negative featuring two almost identical views of the Prince Consort's Writing or Sitting Room at Buckingham Palace. The room has a vibrant wallpaper in panels. There are various paintings on the walls, including portraits of the Princess Royal with Eos (RCIN 401548), Queen Victoria (RCIN 403022), and Ernest I, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (RCIN 405128). The door on the far wall leads to the Prince Albert's Organ Room. Among the furniture occupying the room, there is a roll-top desk on the right and writing table flanked by two sofas in centre.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2103826.Provenance
