-
Glass plate negative featuring two full-length portraits, each depicting a Royal Park Keeper at Windsor Great Park. The image on the left shows Thomas Foster (d. 1890), while the one on the right George Smith. Both men are depicted outdoors at the same location and are assuming similar poses leaning against a face. They wear top hats and matching coats with gold trimming, and hold rifles.
George Smith and Thomas Foster were appointed Park Keepers in November 1840 and April 1842 respectively.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A prints from George Smith's negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2910331.Provenance
